The Stansted Business Forum (SBF) were delighted to welcome our local MP Sir Alan Haselhurst to our business breakfast on Friday 3rd July at Linden House, Stansted. It is the first time that he has come to the forum.
Andrew Blatt, Chairman of the SBF and of the local business Murdochs Solicitors and Property Shop in Stansted said ‘this was a wonderful opportunity for us to meet up with our local MP and we are very pleased that he is interested in what we do. Our forum started up three years ago and we are going from strength to strength with currently over 55 members. We are actively involved in our local community and publish a directory of all the services that our businesses offer twice a year. We always promote our mission to resident to buy locally.’
It was a very lively meeting with a high number of people from local businesses in attendance who were keen to hear what Sir Alan had to say. Sir AH was impressed by the wide range of activities that our businesses are involved in and the large number of businesses who are members of the forum. In his speech he said that Small to Medium business Enterprises were the lifeblood of the country. They brought particular benefits to the community and the constituency.
He also spoke about how he became interested in politics and an MP as well as current government issues which everyone was keen to hear about. Sir AH said he would host a delegation of members from the business forum on a visit to the House of Commons which obviously many people are eager to do.
